More on Domain Searching with GoDaddy
When you search for a domain provider , you will alway find the GoDaddy site first. The site always has some kind of deal and the prices can sometimes range from $2.37 (or lower) to $11.37 per domain depending on the deal available that day. When you do search for a domain you can also use a slew of possible extensions; but GoDaddy always starts you with .COM, the most common and desired of domain extensions.

When you enter your idea in the search field in the gray box or the one in the green header and click on search, you have begun to enter the world of possibilities. For example, I typed in “snowiceandgear”. (It’s been four weeks of bitter snow & cold where I’m typing from and I could have done with warmer boots). This is what I got:

Wow, what choices! This is one of the reasons Trish and I keep using GoDaddy services. Not only do we get quite a few extension options, GoDaddy also supplies other Premium Domain names you may want to purchase.
There are also two Additional Domains sections in the Available tab of the More Options section under the main search results at the top of the page. These Additional Domains sections provide even more options based on the words I searched for.

If I want to search for another domain name, even though I was successful for “snowiceandgear”, I just type in the new search (e.g. gearforiceandsnow) under the Add Another Domain area, and then see what comes up.
Another available domain name! Notice at the bottom of the image My Selected Domain Names section. The previous successful search is stored and checked as well – your list begins to build. Your successfully searched domain names will be stored for you to choose by the selected check marks. Be careful to keep on eye on this as the cost to register can rise quickly even with GoDaddy deals.

Let’s see what happens when a search isn’t successful. The next screenshot is of the search for our domain name, “ourmoneyadventure”.

GoDaddy is quite clear the search for “ourmoneyadventure.com” is already taken but again you are given a bunch of other options. But no worries, your previous two successful searches are still stored at the bottom of the screen as can be seen in the next image.

There are other domain services or specialized searches besides the straight forward searches I just did. Below the main search result area at the top of the page is the More Options section, which has the following 4 tabs:
- Previously Searched Domains keeps a tally of all the searches and alternative extensions
-
Smart Search does the search again with the options checked for extensions and intelligent search options. You can change these and search again for more options
- International Domains looks at all the possible extensions based on a geological area. Remember, these types of domain extensions will require you to provide additional information when registering to prove your location.
- Premium Domain Names provides a long list of domain names that are “more valuable than typical domain names because they are based on common words and phrases that Web surfers frequently use when searching for sites like yours. GoDaddy …does not own these names, but is one of the few registrars offering them on behalf of their third-party owners.” – GoDaddy
When you do choose to register a domain name with GoDaddy you get your own e-mail for free with the same extension (i.e. contact@ourmoneyadventure.com) and other free or pay-for options. One of my favourites is the ability to earn cash for your domain while it’s dormant. I snapped a picture of this service below.

I would suggest checking out GoDaddy directly in regards to the free or pay-for options you can attain in relation to your domain name registeration as GoDaddy updates them regularly.
Well, that was a brief overview and now that I read back over this article it doesn’t seem to do justice to all you can get with GoDaddy when searching for and registering a domain name with them. You’ll just have to check GoDaddy yourself and compare them to others to see for yourself. But in my opinion GoDaddy is THE DADDY of Domain Registering and Hosting companies.
Cheers!
